God In Space || Eugene McGuinness

People listen to music for different reasons. I think that’s why music is so important to many people and exactly the reason why some can’t live without it. To explain what music does, and means, to me is impossible because, well I don’t know quite frankly. I haven’t heard all the songs and all the melodies and until I do, I will never know the full extent of what music means to me. I do know, however, that when I listen to music, I focus on the present note, and the one after, and the one after that; it doesn’t matter that I have three test this week or that I have paper due at the end of the month, the only thing that matters is each syllable as it strings out and takes me along. You begin to focus on the melody as your brain unconsciously keeps time. Your brain sets itself up for disappointment, sometimes we guess right, sometimes, we don’t, but that’s part of the game. With each passing second, I forget that I exist, and I forget that anything but music and waves exist. Each note moves me farther and farther away from everything and everyone out into the nothingness, into space.
